  This section of Sandy River in Maine is 2.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. The beautiful scenery of Franklin County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking
    in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill
up quick. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

Briefly about the general area:
Summer brings highs in the 70's to Sandy River, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Sandy River. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Sandy River; through November this area sees the most snow, and February is when it's the driest.
