  The natural beauty of Franklin County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This section of Sandy River is 2.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are
    lots of good spots for that around here. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll
have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Briefly about the general area:
Through the warm months highs here at Sandy River reach the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Sandy River.
Sandy River gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; November is the month that gets the most snow, and the driest month is February.
