  The nature scenery of Maine and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This stretch of Sandy River in Franklin County is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The Farmington Falls
    to New Sharon section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The starting location is
a short drive from Augusta-Waterville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
