The natural beauty of Maine and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Mainstream to Castle Harmony stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that the rivers     in this state are less demanding. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
