Reversing Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
Has anybody floated the west branch during runoff? It looks doable from the bridges as of 4/22/09. I'm thinking about making a hair-raising overnight between choate rd. and Head Tide. does anyone have any input? Says John
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maine tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The natural beauty of Maine and the playfulness of the water beats anything. If you're coming from Augusta-Waterville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in
location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are plenty of other stretches in this river
system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
