Maine whitewater - Sheepscot River, Lincoln County Lincoln county, Reversing Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.     Has anybody floated the west branch during runoff? It looks doable from the bridges as of 4/22/09. I'm thinking about making a hair-raising overnight between choate rd. and Head Tide. does anyone have any input? Says John The put-in location is a short drive from Augusta-Waterville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Lincoln County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. This     is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Reversing Falls section is just one of many. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The campgrounds here at Sheepscot River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Sheepscot River during the summer months are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Highs during the winter are frequently in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Sheepscot River. The high level of rainfall   makes Sheepscot River a reasonably wet place; during the month of November you get the most rain around here, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
