  The Lower Shin Pond to Seboeis River stretch of Shin Brook River in Penobscot County is 6 miles long and is a class III-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Shin Brook River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Lower Shin Pond to Seboeis River section is the only one. The campgrounds
    here at Shin Brook River are pretty good. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The natural beauty of Maine and the water flowing
gracefully down Shin Brook River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Briefly about the general area:
There's pleasant hiking along the Jerry Pond Tote Road. From a rainfall point of view Shin Brook River is a pretty typical site; July is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest.
