The Lower Shin Pond to Seboeis River section of Shin Brook River is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V+ section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier
than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Shin Brook River doesn't have a lot of paddling
sections, the Lower Shin Pond to Seboeis River section is the only one. The beautiful scenery of Maine and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything.
Briefly about the general area: Shin Brook River is a good place of normal precipitation; most of the rain falls all through July, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Shin Falls is always fun to check out; nearby you stumble on the Jerry Pond Tote Road which is a nice hiking trail. Summer at Shin Brook River comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and
through the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are ordinarily in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Shin Brook River. Grand Pitch is a delightful spot to take a look at while in the area.
