  The nature scenery of Maine and the water flowing gracefully down Smith Brook will make you feel great. The put-in location is a short drive from Bangor, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
    have a lot of people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are a few other stretches in this
river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip.
