The starting location is a short drive from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Souadabscook Stream in Penobscot County is 3.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Souadabscook Stream doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Manning Mill Bridge to Hampden stretch is the only one. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
