CLASS I-II     18 miles
  This stretch of St. Croix Stream in Maine is 18 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There are no other sections to paddle along St. Croix Stream than the Howe Brook to Aroostook
    River section. The wonderful Maine scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe
for beginners. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

Briefly about the general area:
The warmest time of the year at St. Croix Stream arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Summer night lows sink down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's; night lows at St. Croix Stream through the winter regularly sink into the-10's. The Old Dam Tote Road offers
 
hiking at its best.
From a rainfall point of view St. Croix Stream is a reasonably typical location; the wettest month of the year is mostly July, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is February.
