  Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maine tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This stretch of St. Francis River in Aroostook County is 22 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good
    rivers for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The natural beauty of Maine and the water flowing gracefully down St. Francis River will make you feel great. The Beau Lake to
Saint John River stretch is the only paddling stretch along St. Francis River. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.
