Woodsmans Mills to Warren section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II 30.3 miles
The Woodsmans Mills to Warren section of St. George River is 30.3 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Maine and the water flowing gracefully down St. George River beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do
book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. There are no other sections to paddle along St. George River than the Woodsmans Mills
to Warren section. If you're coming from Rockland it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.
