Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater     rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The Above Pool to Androscoggin section of Sunday River is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. This is the only paddling section along Sunday River. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. The beauty of the White Mountains is a great plus for this river. Briefly about the general area: There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Sunday River. Sunday River gets a normal amount of annual rainfall; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February. At Sunday River during the warm months highs are in the 70's, and the night is a little cooler of course, regularly in the 50's.
