This section of Swift River in Maine is 13 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Maine and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Rt 17 Bridge to Mexico section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is long enough for an overnight
trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The wild scenery of the White Mountains is great.
