The nature scenery of Maine and the water flowing gracefully down Tannery Brook River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bangor, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Since you're
on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are no other sections to paddle along Tannery Brook River than the Route 180 to Graham Lake section. There's camping available near Tannery Brook
River. This section of Tannery Brook River is 4.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
