The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Route 180 to Graham Lake section of Tannery Brook River in Hancock County is 4.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. The scenic beauty of Maine and the cool fresh water beats anything. This section is
long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to
drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There are no other sections to paddle along Tannery Brook River than the Route 180 to Graham Lake section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer highs here at Tannery Brook River reach the 70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the
20's while Tannery Brook River night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. A pleasant spot to take a look at near Tannery Brook River is Two Bush Rock; if you want to hit the beach, Dunn Beach is close at hand. This river is a great place to visit. The Peaked
Mountain Trail is a splendid hiking trail right next door to Tannery Brook River. Tannery Brook River is a good place of normal rainfall; most of the rain falls during November, and the driest month is February. Do schedule some time to have a look at Turtle Cove close to Tannery Brook River if you have a chance, and Jesse Beach is pretty nearby if you're in a beach type of mood.
