The wonderful Maine scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Wassataquoik Stream have people coming here. This stretch of Wassataquoik Stream in Penobscot County is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. This is the only paddling stretch along Wassataquoik Stream.
Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maine tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here
are pretty easy. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.
