The average Maine whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The wonderful Washington County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Reversing Falls section of Whiting Bay in Maine is 7.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. This is the only paddling section along Whiting Bay. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
| but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area:
Whiting Bay sees pretty high levels of rain; November is the month that gets the most rain; July on the other hand is the driest. A tour to Broad Cove in the neighborhood of Whiting Bay is always a pleasant idea.
During the summer at Whiting Bay highs are commonly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and overnight lows at Whiting Bay during the winter frequently sink into the 0's. | |
