No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The river winds through the White Mountains and you get great scenery. This is the only paddling section along Wild River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very     popular destination. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. There's camping available near Wild River. This stretch of Wild River is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The average Maine whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Wild River; Roost Trail is a glorious local trail, and nearby Carlton Notch is a glorious site to go. The amount of precipitation that falls at Wild River is close to the national average; most of the rain falls during August; February is when it's the driest. Having a glorious   time in the White Mountains is trouble-free. Good hiking is available along the Hastings Trail. High temperatures at Wild River through the long summer days are in the 70's.
