The US Route 29 to Hyattsville section of Anacostia River - Northwest Branch is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III(V+) section. The nature scenery of Prince Georges/ Montgomery County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the US Route 29 to Hyattsville section is one of them. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a
morning trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. And
