If you're coming from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This section of Anacostia River - Northwest Branch in Prince Georges/ Montgomery County is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III(V+) section. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality
time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The wonderful Maryland scenery and the beautiful way the water
current moves down the stream have people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
