The nature scenery of Washington County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't     matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maryland are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This stretch of Antietam Creek in Washington County is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Antietam Creek, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 30's while Antietam Creek nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's.
