The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hagerstown-Martinsburg, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful scenery of Maryland and the water flowing gracefully down Antietam Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Highway 68 to Potomac River stretch of Antietam Creek in Maryland is 11 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead
and pack your camping stuff. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Highway 68 to Potomac River section is one of them. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maryland are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in
mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

mostly are in the 80's at Antietam Creek, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are frequently in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Antietam Creek. Antietam Creek gets a normal amount of rainfall; throughout the
month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is January. There's great hiking along the Snavelys Ford Trail.
