The wonderful Maryland scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Antietam Creek make the trip here worthwhile. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This stretch of Antietam Creek is 11 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II     section. The average Maryland whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. There's camping available near Antietam Creek. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. Good hiking is available along the Snavelys Ford Trail. Summertime highs at Antietam Creek typically tend to be in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
