The beautiful scenery of Maryland and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The US 219 to Youghiogheny River at Friendsville stretch of Bear Creek in Maryland is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maryland are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. page so you won’t get lost. The US 219 to Youghiogheny River at Friendsville stretch is the only paddling stretch along Bear Creek. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people
| prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area:
Bear Creek generally gets lots of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. A splendid place to explore in close proximity to Bear Creek is Peppermint Hollow.
