The US 219 to Youghiogheny River at Friendsville stretch of Bear Creek is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The nature scenery of Maryland and     the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
