Maryland whitewater - Beaver Creek, Washington County Washington county, Beaver Creek Park N Ride (I-70) to Alternate Route 40 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I(II)     4.5 miles   This section of Beaver Creek is 4.5 miles long and is a class I(II) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Washington County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Beaver Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Beaver Creek Park N Ride (I-70) to Alternate Route 40 stretch is the only one. The average Maryland whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those     in other states, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Beaver Creek are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The starting point is not too far from Hagerstown-Martinsburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Beaver Creek, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Beaver Creek temperatures   plunge to the 10's. The amount of precipitation that falls at Beaver Creek is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is May while January is commonly the driest month.
