The MD Route 355 to Monocacy River stretch of Bennett Creek in Maryland is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The scenic beauty of Frederick County and the water flowing gracefully down Bennett Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make     you glad you came. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This is the only paddling section along Bennett Creek. Briefly about the general area: A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Bennett Creek; the wettest month of the year is regularly May, that's the one that rains the most, and February is the month with the least moisture. During the warm days of summer highs here at Bennett Creek get into the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's.
