Maryland whitewater - Broad Creek, Harford County Harford county, MD Route 136 to Maryland Route 623 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     4.5 miles   This stretch of Broad Creek in Harford County is 4.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Lancaster, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This is the only paddling section along Broad Creek. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of     people. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful scenery of Harford County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The campgrounds here at Broad Creek are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: At Broad Creek during the warm months highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Broad Creek.
