This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The US 40 to Potomac     River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near.
