If you're coming from Lancaster it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Conowingo Creek in Cecil County is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't     matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The nature scenery of Maryland and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. There are no other sections to paddle along Conowingo Creek than the Oakwood to Susquehanna River section. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
