Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maryland is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. If you're coming from Cumberland it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep     you coming back for more. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Evitts Creek gets a normal amount of yearly rain; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest   month of the year is January. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Evitts Creek. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Evitts Creek tend to be in the 10's.
