The starting location is a short drive from Cumberland, as you can see on the road map further down. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The scenic beauty of Bedford (PA) and Allegany (MD) County and the sparkling of     the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are no other stretches to paddle along Evitts Creek than the Lake Gordon Dam to Maryland Route 51 stretch. No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.
