The starting location is a reasonable drive from Winchester, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maryland are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The nature scenery of Allegany County and the beautiful way the water current
moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling
muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The US Route 40 to Potomac River section is the only paddling section along Fifteen Mile Creek. This stretch of Fifteen Mile Creek in Maryland is 9.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater.

the month with the least amount of precipitation. Fifteen Mile Creek is in the neighborhood of Mudlick Hollow which is absolutely worth stopping at. It's always great to check out Robert Milborn Spring, and going for a hike along the Gabriel Trail will let you absorb the natural
beauty of this neighborhood. All through the summertime months here at Fifteen Mile Creek, high temperatures frequently get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Fifteen Mile Creek temperatures drop to the 10's.
