The wonderful Maryland scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This stretch of Flintstone Creek is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Cumberland, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any
hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout
and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Flintstone Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Flintstone Creek Road to Town Creek section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: At Flintstone Creek all through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Flintstone Creek fall into the 10's. Why not take a refreshing hike along
the Gum Spring Trail; do take a hike on the Burnt Mills Trail. The amount of rain that falls at Flintstone Creek is close to the national average; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is January.
