Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maryland is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number     of paddling spots. This stretch of Flintstone Creek in Allegany County is 3.5 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling section along Flintstone Creek. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you're coming from Cumberland it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Briefly about the general area: If the weather is good here at Flintstone Creek, you can go for a hike along the Gum Spring Trail; the Burnt Mills Trail is a nice hiking trail close by.
