The wonderful Baltimore County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Gunpowder Falls attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maryland are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The Lower Loch Raven Dam to Route 1 section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This is a pretty decent length     section, suitable for an afternoon trip.
