This section of Herring Run in Maryland is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Baltimore-Towson, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Herring Run doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Echodale Avenue to Sinclair Lane stretch is the only one. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are some good     hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.
