The beautiful scenery of Montgomery County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maryland is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The starting location is a short drive from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Little Seneca Creek in Maryland is 5.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II(III)
section by American Whitewater. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Some people
prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Boyds to Darnestown section is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: An average amount of rain falls at Little Seneca Creek; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. At Little Seneca Creek through the warm months highs are in the 80's; the nighttime is somewhat colder of course, frequently in the 60's. For
the period of the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Little Seneca Creek temperatures drop to the 20's.
