Maryland whitewater - Long Green Creek, Baltimore County Baltimore county, Glen Arm Road to Gunpowder Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV     2 miles   The starting point is not too far from Baltimore-Towson, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maryland you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The Glen Arm Road to Gunpowder Falls stretch of Long Green Creek in Baltimore County is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. The campgrounds     here at Long Green Creek are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Long Green Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Glen Arm Road to Gunpowder Falls section is the only one. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's.
