The Pigs Ear Road to Yough River Lake section of Mill Run in Garrett County is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Maryland scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. There's camping available near Mill Run. The starting point is not too far from Somerset,     there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is the only paddling stretch along Mill Run. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: All through the warm months highs here at Mill Run reach the 80's; the nighttime is a bit colder of course, mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's with temperatures   at Mill Run dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Mill Run gets lots of water; during the month of July you get the most rain around here; February is the month with the least moisture.
