The put-in is not too far from Lancaster, as you can see on the road map further down. The New Bridge Road to Richardsmere section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The natural     beauty of Maryland and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There's camping available near Octoraro Creek. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The New Bridge Road to Richardsmere section of Octoraro Creek in Cecil County is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Sleepy Hollow is a glorious spot to explore close   by. At Octoraro Creek through the summer months highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's.
