On this     section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Rocky Ridge Road to Monocacy River section of Owens Creek in Maryland is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Owens Creek throughout the summertime are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Owens Creek temperatures   drop to the 10's. A normal amount of rain falls here at Owens Creek; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February.
