The Rocky Ridge Road to Monocacy River stretch of Owens Creek in Maryland is 5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Gettysburg, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop     paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The campgrounds here at Owens Creek are pretty good. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Rocky Ridge Road to Monocacy River section is one of them. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
