This section of Patapsco River is 17.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. The beautiful scenery of Howard/Baltimore/Carroll County and the water flowing gracefully down Patapsco River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Woodstock to Elkridge section is one of them. There     are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: Patapsco River gets a normal amount of annual rainfall; May is the month that gets the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. All through the long summer days highs here at Patapsco River get into the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures   fall down into the 60's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 30's while Patapsco River nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
