CLASS V+ 0.6 miles
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Maryland and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving,
so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This is an extremely short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. The Through Great Falls stretch of Potomac
River is 0.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
