The scenic beauty of Norfolk County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There are no other stretches to paddle along Charles River than the Needham Rapids stretch. The starting point is not too far from Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is very short so it's not like you're     gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A great deal of precipitation falls at Charles River; the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest month is June. All through the summertime highs here at Charles River get into the 80's while overnight lows are usually in the 60's.
