The Route 8A to Deerfield River section of Chickley River in Franklin County is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you're     coming from Bennington it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Route 8A to Deerfield River section is the only paddling section along Chickley River.
