Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Massachusetts are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Franklin County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Route 8A to Deerfield River section of Chickley River in Massachusetts is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. are great attractions for lots of people. The Route 8A to Deerfield River section is the only paddling section along Chickley River. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: Moody Spring is an inspiring place to visit while here, and the slopes of Berkshire East are so inviting nobody can resist. Summertime highs at Chickley River mostly tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The wintertime
comes with highs in the 20's while Chickley River nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. From a rainfall point of view Chickley River is a relatively typical place; most of the rain falls through August, and February is when it's the driest.
