The average Massachusetts whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. This section of Cold River in Massachusetts is 4.25 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. Cold River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Route 2 hairpin turn to Deerfield River section is the only one. info on that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warm months, highs generally are in the 70's at Cold River, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the
50's. Through the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Cold River. Cold River gets a common amount of precipitation; most of the rain falls throughout August while February is usually the driest month. Have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Dunbar Brook Trail; everybody close by loves skiing at Berkshire East.
