The put-in location is a short drive from Bennington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Franklin County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Massachusetts is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. of people. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. This section of Cold River is 4.25 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling
places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
