This section of Deerfield River is 9.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. The Bear Swamp to Route 2 section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The starting location is a short drive from Bennington, as you can see on the road map further down. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors
are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wonderful
Franklin County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.
