The wonderful Franklin County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Deerfield River in Franklin County is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here.
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bennington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This is not the only paddling stretch
in this river system, there are others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places.
