The natural beauty of Franklin / Berkshire County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The starting point is not too far from Bennington, as you can see on the road map further down. The South Road to Deerfield River stretch of Dunbar Brook is 2.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
There are no other sections to paddle along Dunbar Brook than the South Road to Deerfield River section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Getting
some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Massachusetts are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners.

winter temperatures at Dunbar Brook dip into the 10's. Good hiking is available along the Dunbar Brook Trail. An average amount of rain falls at Dunbar Brook; all through August this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
