The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Massachusetts are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're coming from Pittsfield it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This stretch of Fall River in Massachusetts is 0.9 miles long
and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. This is the only paddling stretch along Fall River. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The campgrounds here at Fall River are pretty good. Not too many hotels
nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful scenery of Berkshire County and the water flowing gracefully down Fall River have people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
Briefly about the general area: Fall River frequently gets a large amount of rain; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is January. Otis Falls is always fun to check out, and
nearby you come across The Pork Barrel. At Fall River during the warm months highs are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Fall River. Very pretty scenery and great skiing is what you get at Otis Ridge.
