If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The put-in location is a short drive from Pittsfield, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Farmington River - West Branch is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The scenic beauty of Massachusetts and the cool fresh water beats anything. There are plenty of other sections in this
river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people
coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip.
