The average Massachusetts whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Franklin County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and     paddle. There's camping available near Green River. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. This section of Green River is 5.6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the West Leyden to covered bridge section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the Mount Olga Trail. All through the summer at Green River temperatures are regularly in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's; night lows at Green River during the wintertime typically fall into the 0's.
