This stretch of Konkapot Brook in Massachusetts is 11 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. If you're coming from Pittsfield it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of
people coming here. Konkapot Brook doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Mill River to Ashley Falls section is the only one. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance
you're all set. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The beautiful scenery of Berkshire County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.
Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Wild Cat Trail. Konkapot Brook frequently gets a large amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August; February meanwhile is the
driest month. People from Pittsfield love to come to Konkapot Brook, and the trees of Beartown State Forest are a splendid source of shade on hot summer days. At Konkapot Brook during the summer months highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows fall down to the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Konkapot Brook.
