The wonderful Massachusetts scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Little River beats anything. The Dam below Cobble Mountain Reservoir to Northwest Road section of Little River is 3.2 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around
here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Little River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Dam below Cobble Mountain Reservoir to Northwest Road stretch is the only one. The starting point is not too far from Springfield, if you're not familiar
with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The campgrounds here at Little River are pretty good. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.

nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Little River temperatures sink to the 0's. The high level of precipitation makes Little River a pretty wet location; all through the
month of August you get the most rain around here, and January is the month with the least moisture. There's great hiking along the County Road Trail.
