Massachusetts whitewater - Quaboag River, Worcester/Hampden County Worcester/Hampden county, Warren to Route 67 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-IV     5.5 miles   The wonderful Worcester/Hampden County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Quaboag River will make you feel great. The put-in location is a short drive from Willimantic, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Warren to Route 67 section is the only paddling section along Quaboag River. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The average Massachusetts whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so     keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Quaboag River is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A good deal of rain falls at Quaboag River; May is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Quaboag River. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's.
