Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Massachusetts tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. The campgrounds here at Westfield River are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The natural beauty of Hampden County and the cool fresh water attract     people from near and far. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Huntington to Russell section is just one of many. Briefly about the general area: Hit the slopes at Blandford in close proximity, and the Richard Trail is a delightful hiking trail close by. At Westfield River through the summertime months highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and   night lows in the 0's for Westfield River. Westfield River mostly gets much rain; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. This river is always fun. Near Westfield River you find the Link Trail which is a great hiking trail, and Turtle Bend is an attention-grabbing thing to see since you're here.
